Portland

Portland is the business and cultural center of Oregon. The city is home to the Oregon Symphony, Oregon Ballet Theatre, several theater companies, and many art galleries and museums. Located near the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia rivers, Portland offers a thriving downtown, excellent public transportation, and an extensive park system. Portland's population is 471,325, and nearly 1.6 million people live in the metropolitan area.

	The Pacific Coast, Mt. Hood, and the Columbia River Gorge are all located within easy driving distance of the University and provide some of the best year-round recreation in the nation.
