Green River
CE-QUAL-W2 Model

The Green River flows from its headwaters in the Cascade Mountain foothills through the King County, Washington communities of Auburn, Kent, and Tukwila before discharging into the Duwamish River. The Duwamish River flows through industrialized sections of Seattle before discharging into Elliot Bay.

As part of the Green-Duwamish Watershed Water Quality Assessment Program, King County contracted with Portland State University to develop a hydrodynamic and water quality model for the Green River. This model will be used in Total Maximum Daily Load development, in assessing current water quality conditions in the river, and as a planning tool for assessing future conditions.

The CE-QUAL-W2 Model Version 3.1 has been applied to the Green River from Flaming Geyser State Park (River Mile 45.0) to the confluence with the Duwamish River (River Mile 11.80). King County Washington Department of Natural Resources and Parks funded this project.
