About Civil Engineering Get Started

Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) is an exciting, challenging, and dynamic field that is critical to our quality of life. Civil and environmental engineers plan, design, and manage the construction and operation of public and private infrastructure facilities that are essential to our communities and our planet. Engineering expertise is vital to buildings, dams, foundations, water and wastewater treatment, environmental cleanup, pipelines, waterways, ports, multi-modal transportation systems including highways, rail, airports, and ports. Opportunities are abundant in this field.

The undergraduate degree programs include required courses in the analysis and design of structures, environmental and water resources engineering, applied hydraulics, soil mechanics and foundations, transportation engineering, surveying and engineering project management.
